\"\"Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)<\/strong> is a very old and holistic healing method and is primarily based on the philosophical concept of the Yin-Yang theory. This teaching describes the phenomena of nature and their relationships to each other and to the universe. It describes the permanent process of natural change. Although Yin and Yang are polar opposites in TCM, they are interdependent, complement and control each other, and can even transform into each other.<\/p>\n

Yin & Yang and the Qi – the basic principles of TCM<\/h2>\n

The life energy Qi<\/strong> has various functions: It nourishes, warms, protects, transports, controls and transforms. In TCM, health is said to exist when the life energy is balanced and can exchange itself, i.e. flow unhindered. Illness occurs when the flow of energy is obstructed or blocked.<\/p>\n

The Qi is kept in flow by a balanced interplay of Yin and Yang<\/strong>. Yin and Yang embody different principles of life, which are often regarded as opposite poles – Yin, for example, stands for calmness, passivity and coldness, while Yang is attributed with qualities of dynamism, activity and heat.<\/p>\n

Traditional Chinese Medicine includes five different treatments, also known as the “five pillars<\/strong>.” They can be used individually or often in combination.<\/p>\n

Pillar 1: Acupuncture<\/strong><\/a> and Moxibustion<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pillar 2: Massage (Tuina<\/strong><\/a>, Gua Sha<\/strong>, Cupping<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

Pillar 3: Nutrition<\/p>\n

Pillar 4: Medicines<\/p>\n

Pillar 5: Coordination exercises (Qigong and Taiji)<\/p>\n
